A Quick History

  • It’s hard to determine what really happened during the Big Bang because nobody was there. There’s also no one left who knows exactly how and when the very first mad monster was placed in a crazy car. There’s logic, and then there’s legend. For our purposes both should have a place in our hearts and minds.
  • Logic tells us that this image, or image process to be more specific, was evolutionary. There are some things we know for sure. What we consider to be classic monster-in-car designs first existed on a commercially created, hand-airbrushed T-shirt or sweatshirt. It may be possible that such an image first existed on a race car, hot rod, or customized car—but where is that vehicle, or at least a dated photo of it? We know that the earliest artistic designs done in marker or airbrush

First design How to draw crazy car

  • Two sweatshirts airbrushed in the summer of 1962 by Newton at Waikiki. The Corvette design was a popular request based on the April 1961 Sports Illustrated com art. This design was originally airbrushed by Richard Ash while at Roth Studios in 1960. Ash left Roth in 1961 and immediately went to work for Stanley Mouse, where he did the same design, this time with the car in motion. Newt updated it with a new Corvette per the customer’s request. The Outcasts were an early car club.
